Is your ps4 still loud after cleaning? Does it sound like you have a mini launchpad in your game room? Ps4 loud fan can be quite irritating and, in this guide, I’m going to show you different ways on how you can make your ps4 quieter.

I bet that the first time you bought your new ps4, it was quiet.

However, with time, the PS4 became louder to the point that you couldn’t stand the noise problem, and that’s the precise reason why you’re here- seeking for a solution.

I also bet you’ve done what everyone else has done- purchased a can of compressed air to blow out the dust.

But here is a fact- unless you take apart your PS4 console and clean all the internal parts collecting dust, you won’t fix the problem.

Below is a simple step by step guide on how to fix a loud ps4 fan.

Hard drives could also be a reason why the console is loud. However, this could be an indicator of a faulty drive.

Why is Your PS4 Fan So Loud?

There are several reasons why your PS4 is so loud that you can’t withstand it.

The main reason why your PS4 fan is dust. Dust is everywhere- and the only way to prevent it from entering your console is by investing in a dust cover designed for PlayStation 4.

Another reason why your PlayStation console is loud is graphic-intensive games.

How to Fix a PS4 Loud Fan in Simple and DIY hacks

Dust buildup is a common thing that most ps4 gamers tend to ignore. How can it be prevented?

Regular cleaning and maintenance can go a long way to preventing dust buildup, which eventually results in loud fans and game lags.

Below is a simple step by step guide:

Step 1

Remove the bottom seals at the back of your ps4 to reveal the screws. Take apart your ps4- note- removing the seals will void the warranty.

Step 2

After removing the seals, unscrew the screws. You will need a T9 or a T8 screwdriver for this task.

Once you’ve unscrewed, the bottom half of your gaming console will pop right off once you pull it away from the rest of the ps4.

Perform this procedure gently so that you won’t incur any damage to your ps4.

You will immediately spot dust accumulation on the vents areas of the console covered you’ve just removed.

Clean it out too.

Step 3

You’ll also notice lots of dust accumulation on the fan. Use your can of compressed air to blow away the dust.

Once you’ve cleaned the ps4 cover and the fan, it’s time to clean any other spot where you spot dust.

Warning: don’t make a mistake of blowing air inside the disk drive. The disk drive is where you insert your DVD’s, at the front of your gaming console. Compressed air may ruin the disk drive.

Step 4:

I would recommend leaving your console switched off for at least 15-30 minutes or even for an hour.

This is because there’s a chance that liquid from the compressed air entered your PS4 and may cause a short circuit if you plug the console too soon.

After you’ve done cleaning, it’s time to screw back your PS4 cover and then screw back the screws.

How to Prevent Dirt and Dust from Getting into Your PS4

Now that you’ve done the cleaning process, it’s time to implement the preventive measures to ensure that you won’t ever have to deal with the noise problem again.

Purchase A PS4 Dust Cover

After cleaning my ps4, the first preventive measure I undertook to ensure that I won’t ever have to deal with a dusty gaming console was to purchase a dust cover.

One of the dust covers I recommend is Playstation 4 Dust Cover by Foamy Lizard Store.

The cover will protect your gadget from different things such as:

  • Scratches
  • Dust
  • Liquid spillage
  • UV
  • Pet fur

It’s specifically designed to fit a ps4 console in the horizontal position, as well as a vertical ps4 position as well.

Just make sure to take off the cover when gaming and put it back on when the PlayStation is not in use.

Another great product I’d recommend is the SQDEAL Dust Proof Cover Case Kit by SQDEAL.

Ps4 Still Loud After Cleaning How to Fix It

Is your PS4 still loud after cleaning? In some instances, you may find you PS4 not quiet as you’d expected even after cleaning it.

How do you deal with this problem?

Luckily, I’ve found some fantastic hacks that will help.

Improve ventilation

The first important step to undertake is to ensure that your gaming console is placed in a well-ventilated space.

Don’t block the cooling vents located on both sides and the rear portion of ps4.

The side vents are designed for air intake, while the rear vents are designed for exhaust.

If possible, I’d recommend you to clear the area around your PS4 to allow for healthy circulation of air.

Warning: you should never place your console inside a closed cabinet, especially during gaming sessions. Doing this will cause heat build-up forcing your PS4 fan to spin more to prevent it from overheating.

Play in A Cool Area

Any gaming console, whether ps4 or Ps5, will heat up on its own when it’s running.

So, playing in a hot room won’t do it any favors.

If possible, ensure that your game in a room with cool temperatures.

If you live in hot climates where temperatures get high to points of 82 °F and don’t have a quiet air conditioner to cool your room– here’s what you can do.

Play at night when the temperatures cool down so that you get decent gaming experience.

Loud fans are something common, and times could be an indicator of a problem within your ps4. However, in most cases, it’s the dust buildup on the fan that makes it spin more for efficient air supply.
